TIDE Environmental Exhibition

Two high schools in the Toledo District - Julian Cho Technical High school and the Toledo Community College  - helped celebrate TIDE’s ten years of conservation work by making models on the theme “Global Warming and Climate Change”.   The exhibition was held at the Father Ring Parish Hall in Punta Gorda Town, where the students displayed their models along with exhibitions by TIDE’s rangers.  The students were very creative in demonstrating the effects of Global Warming and Climate Change on the communities in which they live, and the effect it has on the environment;  rising sea levels and environmental degradation causing erosion on the banks of rivers.

A number of students from the different schools in the area visited the displays and commented on the creativity.  The winners of the First Prize for best display were the students from 4 Science: Justin Muschamp, Cristal Moguel and Karen Thomas, who received $500.00.  Second Place and $300.00 went to Albern and Kamari Usher, Nathan Juarez, and Curtis Hines.  The students will use their prize money to contribute to their science class activities.
