Fundraising Dinner at Machaca Hill Lodge

The culmination of the TIDE at Ten celebrations was an exquisite evening of fabulous food, dapper dancing, and respectful recognition of those who have helped TIDE reach its tenth birthday.  The Fundraising Dinner, at $100 per plate,

was graciously hosted by the Machaca Hill Lodge, a beautiful hill top resort nestled in the lush coastal mountains overlooking the Rio Grande and the azure Caribbean, just a few miles outside of Punta Gorda Town.  Guests were greeted with glasses of chilled champagne to wet their appetites and moisten the mingling.  Words of appreciation were spoken by our gracious hosts for the evening, TIDE Board Member, Ms. Kamela Palma, and Toledo Celebrity, Mr. Paul Mahung.  A special award was bestowed on Wil Maheia, TIDE’s founder and Executive Director from 1997 to 2006.  There were not enough words to thank Wil for all that he has done for TIDE, Toledo and Belize as a whole.  He is a born leader and visionary, and we owe him a great debt of gratitude.

A sumptuous buffet had guests lining up twice for succulent shrimp, the freshest

fish, and equally tender meats.  Our hats off to the chefs from Machaca Hill Lodge who did a fantastic job, as they do every night (dinner is open to the public, call for reservations).  After dessert, the guests reveled in the sounds of the PG Vibes Band, led by Eden Martinez, UDP hopeful in the coming elections.  The affair lasted long into the night and was a perfect ending to a wonderful week of activities.
