On Thursday October 5, 2006, Senior Project Officer Sharon Pereira and Mark Smith from the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), Dr. Robin Coleman, TIDE’s Science and Stewardship Director, Operations Manager, Wil Galvez and Communications Coordinator George Emmanuel visited the Payne’s Creek National Park, one of the protected areas co-managed by TIDE.

The visit included traveling up the Deep River to locate the boundary markers separating the park from the surrounding communities, traveling through the Punta Ycacos Lagoon and a tour of the Ranger Station and the near to completion research and visitors facilities.

This visit coincided with activities outlined in a project proposal to upgrade and improve the PCNP making it more visitors friendly.   The Protected Areas conservation Trust (PACT) has been a long time supporter of the programs executed by TIDE and has contributed financially to a number of activities implemented under our programs.  Many programs and activities could not have been possible without the assistance of our donors.

TIDE continues on its mission to promote sustainable development in the Toledo District by fostering the efficient and effective management of the region's resources, conducting relevant research, and by promoting training and advocacy in order to preserve our natural heritage for present and future generations.
