VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT for
RECEPTIONIST
Duty Station: TIDE’s Head Quarters in Hopeville, Punta Gorda Town
The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) is one of Belize’s leading non-profit, non-governmental organizations working to promote conservation and sustainable development in southern Belize. Established in 1997, TIDE works with local communities in the Maya Mountain Marine Corridor (MMMC) of Toledo and the Ministries of Fisheries & Natural Resources to manage the Port Honduras Marine Reserve (PHMR) and Payne’s Creek National Park (PCNP), monitor and protect fresh water resources throughout the district, and promote sustainable development to build the local economy. In addition, TIDE manages ~30,000 acres of private lands that are held in perpetuity for the people of Belize.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Routing in-coming and out-going correspondence and calls;
- Provide assistance to staff with photocopying, collating, faxing and other related needs;
- Assist the Operations Manager in procuring office supplies and toiletries;
- Provide information in response to visitor or telephone caller inquiries;
- Keep an updated list of names of persons contact numbers and addresses of Government of Belize officials, members of Diplomatic Corp, and partner agencies, suppliers and other individuals with whom TIDE maintains regular correspondence.
- Provide other clerical tasks as required by the Operations Manager.
- Provide assistance in maintaining the filing system
- Carry out errands for Administration staff as requested.
Additional Responsibilities:
- As part of the TIDE’s team, enhance the organization’s public relations by actively participating in community meetings, workshops, etc. that are related to the development of TIDE.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
The position of Receptionist requires a minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent).
Other Job Prerequisites:
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- excellent Public Relations Skills
- Bilingual, e.g., English & Spanish, would be an asset
- Driving license would be an asset
