The focus of the presenters was to inform the Alcaldes, Village Chairpersons and others present about the initiative and the establishment of a Sustainable Forest Management Programme for the district.

The main presenter, Forestry Officer Ms. Tanya Santos, took questions from the audience after explaining the importance of proper and sustainable management of the timber resources which can only be found in abundance in the Toledo District.  Many of the concerns from the participants surrounded the issues of licenses to chainsaw loggers and illegal encroachment on leased land by the sawmill loggers.

The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) part of a task force along with other environmental groups and the forestry department charged with the responsibility of putting together a template for Sustainable forest Management.

TIDE continues to promote the sustainable development of the Toledo district by fostering the efficient and the effective management of the resources for the present and future generations.
