Youths Reforest the Toledo District

One of the first community activities in the TIDE at TEN week of celebrations was the planting of Mahogany trees in various Villages throughout the Toledo District.  This reforestation effort gave young people a chance to participate in the process of reforestation in our watersheds.   TIDE donated young Mahogany Saplings - the national tree of Belize, to different primary schools in and around Punta Gorda Town.

During the tree planting ceremonies at the St. Peter Claver Primary, St. Benedict Primary, Forest Home Methodist, Little Flower R.C. School, Toledo Community College, and Julian Cho Technical High School,  the students helped TIDE Rangers plant the trees in strategic locations on their school compound.  The teachers and the principals of the primary schools welcomed the idea and enjoyed watching their students contribute to environmental conservation and experience the responsibility of caring for the planet.
