Making Secondary Education a Reality

The TIDE Scholarship Program for school semester August to Dec 2010 had fourteen students: ten attending Toledo Community College; two at Independence High School and two at Julian Cho Technical High School.
These students come from the communities that TIDE works with such as Punta Gorda Town, Forest Home, Elridge Ville, Cattle Landing, Monkey River, Punta Negra and Big Falls Village.
The students who have reached a point when they can decide on a specific school department to specialize in have chosen departments such as Construction, Science, Business and Vocational. Some of the students, when graduated, may have to work due to their financial situation, others may get opportunities that will allow them to continue with their education. The important thing is that they have finished High School and can continue anytime after if they choose.
During the semester they volunteered with TIDE in activities such as preparation and implementation of the TIDE weekend which includes both the Fish Fest and the Youth Conservation Competition.
At the end of the year all of the students that were in the programme continued into their second semester with no one dropping out.
TIDE is grateful for financial contributions that give underprivileged youths who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend secondary or tertiary level school an opportunity to up lift their lives. TIDE helps at least one student from the different villages that we work with and with your help hopes to continue this program into the future.
