TIDE at Toledo Literacy Fair
This year’s Literacy Fair, which was organized by the Toledo District Education Center, was held on September 8th, 2011 at the Sports Complex. The purpose of this fair is to encourage our youth and help them to understand how empowering literacy can be. Therefore, when asked by the Education Center to participate in the fair, TIDE accepted the offer. In order to show that literacy is indeed needed in every field, TIDE showed the importance of literacy in conservation. After all, TIDE needs literacy for data collection, research, data analysis, report writing, grant writing, education and awareness and so much more...
TIDE’s booth was inclusive of several reading materials including posters, pamphlets, leaflets and stickers that were distributed to the public. To attract the kids of all ages that attended the fair, show them how important literacy is and to highlight environmental information; activities such as match the animal to the habitat, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, coloring activities were formulated.
The kids flocked the booth and enjoyed the activities at the booth and some were so impressed by the booth that they stuck around until the closure of the booth.
